Inflatables come in all shapes and sizes. There doesn’t seem to be much that an inflatable can not be! And no matter what the size or shape, inflatables are always fun! Here are some fun facts about our favorite way to bounce, play and have some inflatable fun!
Largest Inflatable
According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the largest inflatable is a bouncy castle measuring more than 11,400 square feet! The Big Bounce America was created by Grahame Ferguson and Cammy Craig, both of the United Kingdom. The record was broken in Lone Tree, Colorado on 25 May 2018. The Big Bounce America is a 32 foot tall bouncy castle that also features a variety of inflatable elements such as basketball hoops, an inflatable obstacle race, giant slide and ball pit. The giant inflatable even features it’s own in-house DJ!
We may not have the world’s largest but our Star Wars obstacle course #StarWarsParty offers hours of fun!
Longest Inflatable Slide
The title of longest inflatable water slide has been given to Action Park in New Jersey. It is here joy riders will find an inflatable water slide that is 1,975 feet long! That’s one third of a mile! Riding on this slide can take a minute or longer. The slide is made of 20 sections of 100 foot inflatable material, stitched together by six million stitches. The world’s longest slide also has a mid-air corkscrew at the end!
First Bounce House
Ever jump on a bounce house and wonder, how did someone come up with this? Well, like a lot of inventions, the first bounce house was created by someone working on a government project. In 1959, an engineer named John Scurlock was experimenting with inflatable plastic-type covers for a government project. He was working to create inflatable signs and covers for tennis courts, swimming pools and other enclosures. While he was working he saw his sons jumping on the air structure and the idea for the bounce house was born!
We have come a long way since the first bounce house! Our Princess Palace Club #PrincessParty with slide gives kids a large bounce area and a fun slide! The perfect addition to any party!
Tallest Inflatable Slide
This inflatable is not for the faint of heart! The honor of the tallest inflatable in the world goes to the pop-up water park Xscape at the City in Australia. Those who are not afraid of heights can climb to the top of this dual inflatable slide that stands more than 73 feet in the air - that is more than four stories high! With two slides side by side, daredevils can raise their friends to the bottom. This amazing inflatable has also landed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the tallest inflatable slide in the world.
Longest Bounce Marathon
Love to bounce? So do these people! The longest recorded bounce-a-thon took place from July 20 to July 23, 2018. The Stonehouse Gang from the United Kingdom completed a group bounce for 50 hours! There seems to be no record set by individuals bouncing for long periods of time, so if someone is looking to get into the Guinness Book of World Records, here is an untapped record to be broken!
Largest Inflatable Structure
While people may not be able to bounce on it, they can walk around inside the world’s largest inflatable structure. They can do much more than just walk around in it, too! The world’s largest inflatable structure is located in California and ironically enough houses other inflatables. Goodyear’s inflatable hangar is home to Wingfoot Two which flies over football games in Los Angeles beginning in 2017.
The hangar is an impressive 86.6 feet high (as tall as nine regulation size basketball hoops stacked on top of each other), 337 feet in length, 135.5 feet wide, totaling 50,800 square feet (which can fit almost 11 regulation size basketball courts). The volume of this massive structure is 3 million cubic feet which would fill 34 Olympic size swimming pools.
Our inflatables may not be world record holders, but they are sure to create memories that will last a lifetime! Call to rent an inflatable today!
